Shoe brand Clae creates the first cactus leather vegan sneakers

Vegan Food and Living magazine report that shoe brand Clae are collaborating with sustainable materials manufacturer Desserto to create the first vegan leather sneakers made from cactus.

Created in Mexico, Desserto is a groundbreaking cactus leather that is more environmentally friendly than animal skin leather, using less water and does not require the cactus to be killed.

With uppers made from Desserto, sole made from Heavea tree sap rubber and laces made from recycled waste plastic, Clae’s Desserto sneakers are called “Bradley Cactus” and come in three distinctive colours inspired by the cactus plants it is made from: white, green and black.
