The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has published a set of voluntary guidelines for retailers who want to give assurance to their customers that their products are vegan.
The BRC notes that there is an upsurge in interest in veganism and demand for vegan products, even amongst non-vegans.
The guide outlines to retailers the considerations they need to be aware of to ensure their products are vegan, covering areas such as material and supplier choice,
The guide includes appendices listing animal-derived materials, and types of dyes and glues that contain animal products.
